Boy Dies From Injuries In I-66 Crash in Fauquier County: Police

A 6-year-old boy died Tuesday from injuries suffered in a single-vehicle crash Sunday afternoon on Interstate 66 in Fauquier County: VSP.

CHANTILLY, VA—A 6-year-old boy died Tuesday from injuries suffered in a single-vehicle crash early Sunday afternoon on Interstate 66 at the 24-mile marker in Fauquier County, according to Virginia State Police. A 10-year-old boy suffered serious injuries, and the driver, 27-year-old man from Chantilly, had minor injuries.

Around 12:15 p.m., a 2018 BMW M3 was headed east on I-66 when it ran off the right side of the road, struck a sign post, several trees and spun around before coming to rest against a fence.

Boy boys were wearing seat belts but the 6-year-old wasn't properly secured in a booster seat. The driver wasn't wearing a seat belt. Police continue to investigate, and charges are pending.
