Chantilly Academy GymStars - VA Level 5, 6, and 7 State Meet

During the weekend of March 22-23, gymnasts from Chantilly Academy GymStars Gymnastics competed with over 600 gymnasts from around the state at the Level 5, 6 & 7 Virginia USA Gymnastics State Championships held in Radford, VA at the Radford University Dedmon Center.  

The GymStars competing in the Level 7 State Championship were Libby Ashworth and Olivia Kielb of Clifton, Dorothy Cervarich of Centreville, Lily Chireix of Oakton, Hanna Cook of Haymarket, Isabella DeCroo of Warrenton, Darrian Kapinos of Sterling, Katie MacDonald of South Riding and Emma Nocera of Ashburn. The Level 7s competed on Saturday, March 22.  Emma Nocera scored a career high 38.150 in the all-around making her the Level 7 VA State Champion for the 13-Sr age group.  She also won state event titles in the uneven bars with a 9.675, and the floor exercise scoring a 9.600!  Emma placed 2nd on Vault and 3rd on the balance beam.  Level 7 GymStars taking home state placement medals for the team are Libby Ashworth winning 3rd on vault with a 9.525, for the 11 Jr group, Hanna Cook took home 4 state placement medals on bars, beam, floor and all-around in the 12-Jr group.  Bella DeCroo scored a career high 9.625 on the floor exercise, taking home the 6th place medal. There were many personal best scores attained throughout the competition.  We are very proud of our Level 7 GymStars bringing home the 8th Place Team Award out of the 29 teams competing at the meet!

On Sunday, March 23, the Level 5 GymStars competed in their State Championship meet.  The CA GymStars Level 5 State qualifiers were Catherine Bare and Caitlin Dixon of Oak Hill; Samantha Bowers of Clifton; Kelly Fangyen, Liliana Fe Gines and Riley Waldrop of South Riding; and Katarina Selewski of Centreville.  Liliana Fe Gines won 3rd place on floor exercise with a 9.575, 5th place on uneven bars with a 9.500, and 6th place in the all around for the 10-Jr-1 age group.  Caitlin Dixon won 5th place on uneven bars with a 9.550 and 6th in the All Around in the 11-Sr Age Group. Riley Waldrop won 4th place on uneven bars with a 9.550 in the 11-Jr Age Group; and Samantha Bowers won 4th place on uneven bars with a 9.675 in the 10-Jr 1 age group.  Kelly Fangyen and Catherine Bare both won the 6th place state medals on floor and vault respectively.  All of the gymnasts represented the GymStars and northern Virginia with pride!

Our GymStars have Level 9 and Level 10 Regional Championships coming up the next two weekends of April held in Hampton, VA and Allentown, PA respectively.  Our Level 4 GymStars have their State Championship meet at the end of April in Leesburg, VA and our Level 3 GymStars have their State Championship meet at the beginning of May in Chesapeake, VA.
