Chantilly Academy GymStars Bring Home Virginia State Champion Titles!

During the weekend of March 15-16, gymnasts from Chantilly Academy GymStars Gymnastics competed in the Virginia USA Gymnastics Level 8, 9, and 10 State Championships in Richmond.  The team brought home four State Champion titles, including an All-Around State Champion, and two gymnasts qualified to compete at the Region 7 Championships for their levels to be held in April.  Regional Championships brings together the top gymnasts from six states in the region (which includes MD, DC, Delaware, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and West Virginia).

Julia McLaughlin of Sterling competing as a Level 10, the highest level in the USA Gymnastics Junior Olympic program, captured the State Champion titles in vault (9.250), beam (9.475) and all-around (37.150) for the 16 year old group!  In addition, she placed 3rd on uneven bars, and floor exercise.  McLaughlin also qualified to compete in the Region 7 Level 10 Championship meet to be held in Allentown, PA on April 12-13.
Olivia Norman of Herndon, a Level 9 gymnast, won the State Champion title in uneven bars (9.425) for the 15 year old group!  She also garnered third place on vault for her age group.  Norman qualified to compete in the Region 7 Level 9 Championship meet on April 4-6 in Hampton, VA.  Anna Broussard of South Riding, also a Level 9, qualified to compete in the State Championships where she won the fourth place medal in the 16 year old age group on floor exercise, scoring 9.300.

Chantilly Academy GymStars Gymnastics had six Level 8 State qualifiers.  Brenna Lawrence of South Riding, Lydia Lodge of Herndon, Julia Pioso of Clifton, Jenna Shuey of Vienna, and Natalie Weaver of Oakton represented the GymStars and Northern VA with pride!  Stephanie Weir of Oakton also qualified to compete at the State Championships, but was unable due to injury.  Natalie Weaver had a 7th place medal winning performance on the balance beam!
