Chantilly High's Sean McGorty Takes First Place in One Mile Race at The Penn Relays
McGorty ran Boys Mile Run championship Friday afternoon.

Chantilly High School senior Sean McGorty, who The Washington Post calls "far and away the top cross country runner in the region" won the High School Boys Mile Run Championship Friday at The 119th Penn Relays, one of the largest track meets in the world.
McGorty came in first place, with a time of 4:04:47.
"Hyped for Penn Relays tomorrow," McGorty tweeted Thursday. The race took place at 5:45 p.m. Friday.

The Penn Relays is the oldest and largest track and field competition hosted annually at the University of Pennsylvania at Franklin Field in Philadelphia, since 1895.
The boys' cross country team from Chantilly won their first boys' state cross-country title last fall. McGorty has broken every boys' cross country record in Chantilly history.

McGorty was recruited by hundreds of colleges, according to the Post and will attend Stanford in the fall.
