As part of our World War II research unit, Holocaust survivor and local resident Nesse Godin will visit Franklin Middle School to share her inspiring life story. The event will take place on March 14, 2011 and we would like to let the community know.
Mrs. Godin was born in Siauliai, Lithuania, and lived there with her family during the Nazi invasion. Her story chronicles survival of the Siauliai Ghetto, the Stutthof Concentration Camp, four labor camps, and a death march. Today, she dedicates her life to spreading a message of tolerance and hope, while sharing memories of survival. Mrs. Godin has won numerous awards, and her story has been printed in several publications including Washingtonian magazine, Scholastic News, and The Washington Post. Her testimony also appears in an exhibit at the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum.
