"Race to Nowhere - The Darkside of America's Achievement Culture" - Film

Chantilly High School PTSA, Rocky Run Middle School PTA and the Franklin Middle School PTA are proud to host a screening of the documentary film that is gaining national attention.
The film "Race to Nowhere" is a very powerful documentary about the pressures faced by American schoolchildren and their teachers in a system and culture obsessed with the illusion of achievement, competition and pressure to perform.
The film touches on very sensitive issues as a result of the pressures faced, such as teen suicide, anxiety and depression and eating disorders. It is a grass roots call to try and mobilize families, educators, coaches, and policy makers to challenge current assumptions on how to best prepare the youth of America to become healthy, bright, contributing and leading citizens.

The film will be shown on Thursday, February 10 at 7:00 pm in the Chantilly High School Auditorium. Following the film there will be a panel discussion addressing the issues in the film. Tickets will be on sale online for $10 and $15 at the door. Tickets can be purchased through the "Race To Nowhere" website at www.racetonowhere.com
