On Sunday, May 23, at approximately 1:27 a.m., units from Fairfax County Fire and Rescue and the Arlington County Fire Department were dispatched for a reported house fire in the 7000 block of Ted Drive in the West Falls Church area of Fairfax County.

Units arrived on the scene of a two story, split level home with significant fire showing. Crews quickly extinguished a mostly exterior fire. Fire was extinguished with minimal extension into the house. There were no civilian or firefighter injuries reported.

Three occupants were home at the time of the fire. One occupant awoke to her child crying. She noticed an orange glow outside the bedroom window. Her husband called 9-1-1 and all three self-evacuated prior to fire department arrival. Smoke alarms sounded but after the fire was discovered due to location of the fire.

Fire Investigators determined that the fire was accidental in nature and started on the outside of the home. The cause of the fire is under investigation. 

Three occupants were displaced because of the fire. Red Cross services were offered and declined. Damages as a result of the fire were approximately $25,000.
