Freedom High School Theatre to produce "Radium Girls"

SOUTH RIDING, VA: The cast of the Freedom High School Drama Department will be performing "Radium Girls" from November 19-22.

This tragic tale of female factory workers in Orange, NJ, is based on true events from before the time of labor and safety standards. When the girls started dying of radium poisoning--ingested by licking the brushes used to apply glowing paint to watches--the source of the sickness was soon suspected. But in order to save money and face, the company rode denial for as long as possible. The play follows Grace, one of the factory girls, who stands up to corporate greed and fights for her story to be told.

Show times: Thursday, November 19 through Saturday, November 21: 7 PM; Sunday, November 22: 3 PM.
