During the weekend of April 26th and 27th, the Chantilly Academy GymStars Level 4s competed in their State Championship Meet at Tuscarora High School in Leesburg. The GymStars did well with many top finishes and personal bests!
Level 4 GymStar Brooke Stefanish of Centreville claimed the State Champion title on floor exercise with a score of 9.775 for the 9-Sr-1 group. She also placed 4th in all-around, 6th on balance beam and 7th on uneven bars. Megan Berg, also of Centreville, placed 2nd on beam with a score of 9.350 for the 10-Jr-2 group. Elizabeth Parolek of Centreville placed 3rd in all-around (37.050), vault (9.250), and beam (9.300), 7th on floor, and 8th on uneven bars in the 10-Jr-2 group. Madeline Williams, also of Centreville, placed 4th on beam, floor, and in the all-around for the 8-Jr group. Williams also placed 5th on bars. Other top finishes included:
- Megan Baker of Centreville placed 8th on bars in the 11-Jr-1 group.
- Neve Perez of Leesburg placed 4th on bars and 8th in the all-around for the 10-Sr-2 group.
- Zoe Sauger of Oak Hill tied for 5th on bars, placed 6th on beam and 8th in the all-around; and Shannon Sweeney of Fairfax placed 5th on bars for the 10-Jr-2 group.
- Emily Hyun of Chantilly placed 6th on floor, 7th on beam and 8th in the all-around; and Lauren Poythress of Clifton placed 8th on beam in the 9-Jr-2 group.
- Katie O’Brien of Herndon placed 5th on bars, 6th in the all-around, and 7th on beam and floor; and Katie Vaughan of Oakton place 7th on bars in the 8-Sr group.
- Kennedy Brown of Fairfax placed 8th on beam in the 8-Jr group.
Other GymStars qualifying to their State Championship Meet and proudly representing their team included Amanda Stalfort of Centreville, Leah Mozeleski of Chantilly, Karissa Bhatti of Bristow, and Delilah Borg of South Riding. Great job, everyone! Go GymStars!
