Arts & Entertainment

Made You Look!

Who says that cities have all the entertainment? You may be surprised at what's closer to home and how often the Chantilly arts can catch your eye.

Do you ever just get really excited about something? Just that can't-sit-still, trying-to-wipe-that-stupid-grin-off-your-face feeling? That's how I felt about arts camp. I know, pretty nerdy, right?

Still, I bet many of you get excited about a good show, song, movie, piece of art or book, even if it's only because your child is performing.

I'm here to tell you that there's plenty to get excited about right here in Chantilly.  I grew up right around town and was always heavily involved in the arts, especially music. I spent a year at Syracuse University getting my Masters degree in Arts Journalism, working for a non-profit arts organization and freelancing for local papers. The arts, and writing about the arts, is a passion that has grown and evolved with me, and now I am thrilled to explore how others are enjoying the arts in this column for and about you.

I want to know about it all, and that'll be hard without your help. Neighborhood kids putting on a play? Trying your hand directing for your film class? Got a recital coming up? Someone you know going to be an extra in a movie? I want to know! I hope that you will use the "e-mail the author" link at the top of my column to share with me what's going on with you.
