Online Dating Relationship Scams Woman in Chantilly: Police

A woman met a man on Facebook and began dating him online, according to the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office. She sent him money. Bad idea.

CHANTILLY, VA — Here's a sad, cautionary yarn about a woman who befriended a man on Facebook in October 2015 and began an online dating relationship in the 42000 block of Center Street, according to the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office.

The man told her he was a banker. At some point during the long online relationship, he told her he wanted to set up a bank account in Malaysia. He asked her to send him money so he could come to the United States to meet her.

So, she sent multiple payments to Middle Eastern and Asian banks with her personal information.
