Public Meeting Scheduled for Route 50 Widening Project

Residents curious about the  are invited to attend a Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) meeting Thursday, June 28, concerning the .

VDOT will notify citizens of any updates to the construction plans. Residents will have a chance to voice concerns and ask questions at the “Pardon Our Dust” meeting. It will hosted by Supervisor Matt Letourneau and Del. David Ramadan (R-87)

“We need to put out a plan on any (road) closures in the future and we need VDOT to notify citizens and let them know the procedure,” Ramadan said.

The meeting will be held at 6 p.m. at the Dulles South Public Safety Center, located at 25216 Loudoun County Pkwy.

According to the VDOT website, construction is expected to go through the end of 2014. The project will widen Route 50 from four to six lanes between Poland Road and Route 28 to ease congestion and accommodate cyclists and pedestrians.
