Westfield Finishes Second, Chantilly Fifteenth At Northern Region Wrestling Championships
Westfield dominates while Chantilly turns in top fifteen finish
Westfield High School placed second overall (208.00) while Chantilly placed fifteenth (44.00) in Saturday’s Northern Region Wrestling Championships at Fairfax High School.
Chantilly’s Bernabe Mejia had a solid outing on the mat, finishing third overall in the 171 lb. weight bracket. Wes Litton placed as well, finishing sixth overall in the 130 lb. bracket.
Westfield, along with Robinson High School, dominated Saturday’s event. Both schools sent a total combined twenty-three wrestlers to championship events. Vying with Robinson for a first-place overall finish, Westfield was unable to take this year’s Regional Championship meet outright, but certainly gave Robinson just about all they could handle.

Beau Donahue, 55-3 on the year, led Westfield on Saturday with the team’s lone first-place victory. Donahue defeated Madison’s Albert Schultz in a controversial finish. Match referees initially awarded Schultz two points late in the match, only to detract them after conferring with each other. Donahue maintained his lead for the rest of the match, defeating Schultz 7-2.
In addition to Donahue, Westfield’s others wrestlers performed extremely well in Saturday’s event.
