• 25-year-old killed in Chincoteague Causeway crash (wboc.com) — A deadly two-vehicle crash late Friday shut down much of Route 175 on the Chincoteague Causeway for several hours, as responders worked the scene and state police began investigating. A 25-year-old New Church man driving the wrong way died after his SUV went over the jersey wall into the marsh, while the other driver suffered minor injuries. 
• Banded oystercatchers help scientists track shorebird recovery at Chincoteague Refuge (shoredailynews.com) — Right next door at Chincoteague National Wildlife Refuge, scientists are closely tracking banded American oystercatchers to understand how well local shorebird populations are recovering. Using colored leg bands and tiny GPS “backpacks,” researchers monitor individual birds’ movements, nesting success, and migration, helping guide conservation work that protects both the species and our coastal ecosystem.
