Photo of the Day: The Arlington Community Quilt Project

Artist incorporating residents' items into final work.

Artist Michael Booker wants you to contribute pieces to his quilt.

"This is a community project," he said. "I want to stress this family, this bond people share in one community. I want people to bring something that means something to them."

It doesn't have to be cloth -- though that works well. Booker can sew in pamphlets, food wrappers, old photos, even laminate flooring.

Booker, a 26-year-old art student originally from Mississippi, will be at Artisphere Wednesday through Sunday this week and next. A complete schedule is here.

Booker collected enough items Wednesday to stitch together a 30-inch-by-30-inch square. Each day's square will be incorporated into the final project.
