Water & Wall, the new addition to the Maple Ave Restaurant group, is expected to open in Arlington's Virginia Square neighborhood on Nov. 1, according to owner Joey Hernandez.

Hernandez, along with her husband Tim Ma, own the popular fusion restaurant on Maple Avenue in Vienna, which opened three years ago.

Water & Wall will be located at 3811 N. Fairfax Drive, in the space formerly occupied by Pines of Florence.

Hernandez said that they are currently in the midst of obtaining building permits, cleaning out the new space, ordering equipment and talking to the designer.

"In terms of menu, we plan to let the kitchen evolve into what the menu should be. We want to gain the trust of everyone," Hernandez said.

She said that restaurant-goers can likely expect to see rabbit, sweetbread, baked mac and cheese, and shrimp and grits, to start out.

"The menu will be a spin-off of Maple Ave. As the kitchen evolves, so will the menu," Hernandez said.

They are looking forward to the new space, which will seat about 70 people. "We are pretty excited.  Every neighborhood has its own identity and this will be reflected in the menu as well.  We are happy to have the opportunity to open another restaurant in Arlington," Hernandez said.

The owners are grateful for loyal customers who come into Maple Ave Restaurant with their friends and family and help spread the word.

"That is how we grow," Hernandez added.
