Car Crashes into House, No Injuries

Update: Crews sucessfully removed the car from the house at about 4:30 p.m. Neighbors said the driver appeared to be going 40-50 miles per hour around the corner at the four-way stop, apparently hitting the accelerator instead of the brake pedal by accident.

Original post: A silver Toyota Camry crashed into the first level of a two-story house at the corner of Lindendale Road and Silverdale Drive around noon on Tuesday. No one was injured in the crash.

Prince William County Police Officer Jonathan Perok said the car's driver, an adult female, was charged with reckless driving. One person was in the house at the time.

Crews were still working to remove the car from the house nearly four hours after the crash, as a crowd of bystanders stood in the rain to watch. Dale City Volunteer Fire Department Battalion Chief Ernie Little said the car had lodged in a difficult position and had to be lifted up before it could be pulled out.

The car appeared to have gone straight into the house, which is catty-cornered at the intersection of the two streets. The rear end of the car was all the way into the house.

Crews from the Dale City Volunteer Fire Department and OWL Volunteer Fire Department blocked off Silverdale Road at the intersection. Police have not released a cause of the accident.
