Holiday weekend traffic has Interstate 95 South backed up for miles past Dale City on Sunday afternoon.
The Virginia Department of Transportation reported major delays due to congestion. At mile marker 162 in traffic was backed up for about six miles as of 12:56 p.m. The south right shoulder was closed due to an accident. Farther south at mile marker 148, backups were reported to be about 15 miles.
