Local resident Rob Hoover practices parkour, the sport of running through any environment using the most efficient path.
Parkour, the sport of running through any environment using the most efficient path, is a growing worldwide movement, particularly in urban areas. Local resident Rob Hoover has been practicing parkour for about three years now, and travels into D.C. to work out with fellow traceurs, as practitioners of the sport refer to themselves.
Hoover doesn't know of anyone else in Dale City doing parkour right now, but hopes that eventually he can get a local group together to train.
Parkour helps Hoover stay disciplined, and he said in that sense, it is an aspect of his faith. He starts each morning by reading his Bible for an hour followed by an hour of training for parkour. "It goes along with what Paul told Timothy, that physical discipline is of some value, but spiritual discipline holds promise for this life and the life to come," Hoover said.
