The Great Escape: Beach Vacation

Enjoy the off-season without breaking the budget.

If you’re looking for a quick getaway to soak up the season’s last sun, escape a couple of hours south to nearby Virginia Beach. It may be its off-season, but this popular vacation destination is still worth visiting for a weekend. The crowds and hotel rates are smaller and so are the sunburns.

When the weather is sunny and warm, enjoy the traditional summer-like activities like the beach and sand. And if the the weather turns more fall-like, entertainment options abound. There are multiple options for indoor and outdoor mini golf, boating expeditions, museums, and historical attractions such as Jamestown and Williamsburg in the area. You can also rent a bike to cruise along the beach boardwalk and watch the waves.

The beach is still a great place to get away from it all, even if it’s just overnight. Just think outside the usual summer vacation and it’s sure to be a hit with the whole family.

The programs usually last two to three hours and offer mom a needed break during the day. Children can play, make crafts, and learn preschool-level information.
