The Great Escape: Food, Art, and Fun

A Handmade and Independent Afternoon.

Do you love independent art? Do you spend too much time and money on Etsy? If punk baby clothes and handmade products appeal to you, escape into a fall afternoon away in D.C. The first weekend in October, the city will host the 8th Annual Crafty Bastard Arts and Crafts Fair. The fair will feature alternative arts and crafts from many independent artists from all over the country.

The fair will also feature the DIY and local food movements by offering unique vendors and a Food Craft festival complete with demonstrations and awards in three categories: preserves, pickles, and beer. Families and children (and pets!) are encouraged to attend as other entainment includes kid-friendly rock shows, playgrounds, hands-on crafting, puppet theatre, and more. There will also be a Young and Crafty section where children and teenagers will be selling their creative wares.

The fair is held Saturday, October 1, in the Adams Morgan neighborhood from 10am until 5pm. For more information and a complete vendor list, please visit the fair’s website.
