Update: Water Main Break Causes Sinkhole

A near Acorn Drive caused a large sinkhole in the road Monday morning.

Just after noon, workers on the scene had dug out the sinkhole and were beginning to fill it in, but crews still have to find the leak and repair it. A worker on the scene said the crew would likely be there for the rest of the afternoon.

A spokeswoman for Virginia American Water told InsideNova.com that the break was in a 12-inch water main, causing five residents to be without water.
