VFW Post to Host PTSD Seminar Saturday

As long as there have been wars, veterans have returned home with obvious physical wounds, but in recent years, more attention has been given to the less-obvious psychological damage that faces veterans returning from war. Post Traumatic Stress Disorder has been in the news as more and more veterans returning from overseas are diagnosed with it.

A three hour seminar beginning at 1 p.m. on Saturday at in Dale City will address PTSD and its causes. The seminar is aimed at veterans, military personnel, law enforcement, emergency services providers, and anyone who has faced serious stress or trauma. The event, which will be presented by U.S. Navy Chief Stanley “Mike” Wade, is open to the general public, according to a release submitted to InsideNova.com.

Post 1503, which has the second-largest membership of any VFW post in the world, last year.

The post bears the name of Lieutenant General Lewis B. "Chesty" Puller, the most decorated Marine of all time. Puller was known for quipping in battle, "They're on our left, they're on our right, they're in front of us, they're behind us...they can't get away this time."
