Accomplishment: Signed to play for James Madison University on Tuesday amongst family, friends, coaches, and his principal. A jack-of-all-trades on the field, Etienne’s primary position was center.

Key to success: Kristi Beckman, coach of Hylton High’s soccer team, made strong emphasis on Etienne’s ability to play coming directly from the coaching of his father. “He raised him to be a phenomenal athlete,” Beckman said. “He’s central to every offensive and defensive play, he distributes the ball well, he has a strong ability to lead, and his character is unmatched.”

A very soft-spoken and modest child, Etienne started playing soccer when he turned 13. Etienne's father, originally a soccer player himself, never pressured Etienne into the sport, but encouraged his son once interest presented itself.
