'Beltway Bank Bandit' Sought For $10K Reward: FBI
The FBI doubled the reward for a suspect believed to be responsible for 20 robberies up to February 2019.

WASHINGTON, DC—The FBI Washington Field Office has doubled the reward for the "Beltway Bank Bandit," an unknown person believed to have carried out 19 bank robberies and one retail robbery in the region.
The robberies happened between December 2017 and February 2019. In each of the robberies, the suspect passes a note to tellers demanding money and fled on foot. The suspect displayed a gun in several robberies.
The FBI believes one suspect is responsible and that he wore various wigs and a baseball hat covered by a hood or hijab to change his appearance. He also wore plastic gloves like those used for food service.

The suspect is described as a black man in his 20s or 30s, around 5 foot 7 to 6 foot 2, and around 160-170 pounds.

- May 14, 2018, 9:25 p.m., Burlington Coat Factory, 3200 Donnell Drive, District Heights, Md. The suspect wore a similar handbag and skirt during the Capital One Bank robbery on March 1, 2018.

- Jan. 2, 2019, Capital One Bank, 15460 Annapolis Road, Bowie, Md. The suspect displayed a handgun to the teller.
