2 New Voting Precincts Proposed In Alexandria

The precincts would accommodate residential growth and reduce the two largest precincts.

ALEXANDRIA, VA—The Alexandria Electoral Board will recommend adding two new voting precincts in Alexandria. The proposed precincts are the Olympus Condo Election District in the West End and AlexRenew Election District in the Eisenhower East corridor. The changes would apply to 2019 elections.

The changes seek to address continued growth from residential development and reduce the largest precincts—Tucker School and Lee Center. According to the city, the changes would move almost 5,000 residents close to their polling places. The city expects 20,000 residents would be in smaller precincts with shorter wait times.

Under the proposal, Olympus Condo Election District would draw from two existing precincts— the Tucker School Election District and Beatley Library Election District. Around 100 voters from the Cameron Station precinct would move to the Tucker School precinct. The new voting location would be Olympus Condominium, 6301 Stevenson Avenue.
