ALEXANDRIA, VA — Early voting will begin Friday for the June 21 Democratic primary election in Alexandria, according to the Office of Voter Registrations and Elections.

The only 2022 Democratic primary race in Alexandria is the 8th congressional district. No Republican primary election will be held, as the party is choosing its U.S. House candidates in a convention. In the November general election, all U.S. House seats will be up for grabs, but no U.S. Senate seats in Virginia up for election in 2022.

The redrawn congressional district maps will take effect with the 2022 election. There is no change in the City of Alexandria, which is still entirely in the 8th congressional district. In the 8th congressional district primary, incumbent Rep. Don Beyer (D-Alexandria) will face challenger Victoria I. Virasingh.
