Adoptable Alexandria Pet: Older Gentleman Needs Loving Home

This Thanksgiving, you can be thankful for a new addition to your family. One place to look is the Animal Welfare League of Alexandria, which shelters pets in need.

The shelter has a special going on for Black Friday Pet-stravaganza on Friday, Nov. 23. The shelter is offering half off adoption fees for adult animals with any black coloring. That could mean spots, paws and eyes—basically every adult pet in the shelter. The shelter will be open for adoptions from noon to 5 p.m. on Friday.

One of the available pets is Junior, a senior dog looking for a kind, gentle owner. He has some problems with his joints and vision but loves to go on short walks, play or just snuggle.

Hi! I’m Junior. As you can see, I have the elegant, distinguished face of an older, kindly gentleman. That’s me! I have some issues with my joints and my vision but I see well enough to get around, and if you love slower or shorter walks, I would love to join you! I enjoy playing with toys now and then and love frankfurters and other goodies. Since I’m a bit sensitive with my hips, I would love to be the only dog in your home and you needn’t worry about running off to the dog park with me – I’m happy to stay by your side and enjoy all the small gifts life offers, like your kind tender loving care. Nothing would make me happier than devoting all my days and life to you and snuggling by your side. Please come by and say hi! It takes me a moment to get up and go, but I’m worth the moment.
