Adoptable Alexandria Pet: Positive Pup Despite Medical Concerns
Zoey is looking for a loving family during the time she has left. Her adoption fees have already been paid.
Looking to adopt a new furry friend? Consider looking at the Animal Welfare League of Alexandria, which provides shelter and finds homes for pets in need.
One of these pets will be a rewarding but hard experience for her owners. Zoey, a Shepherd mix, has ongoing medical issues and has a questionable amount of time left. Yet the 8-year-old lives with a cheery, positive attitude, and AWLA hopes she can find a loving family to keep her happy.
Zoey's adoption fees have been covered, and AWLA can discuss medical care with potential adopters.

Here's a description of Zoey from AWLA:
When eight-year-old Shepherd mix Zoey came to the AWLA in early April, our staff was amazed at how friendly she was. During her intake and veterinary exams, one staff member called her "just the biggest cuddlebug." We had been informed that she had a history of incontinence, but it didn't affect her mood and her big, infectious grin. Unfortunately, upon further veterinary examination, we found that Zoey has additional medical concerns, including a previously-reported mass on her liver, several mammary masses and a nasal mass in her right nostril that has caused her some difficulty breathing; however, her continued upbeat attitude would never betray this. Zoey's urinary issues are being addressed by twice-daily medication that will need to be continued long-term, but we do not have diagnoses for her other medical issues. We do know that she is happy and comfortable, with a good quality of life, and we want her to be able to find a home and a family who can love her for the time she has left, whether it is months, a year or longer. We realize that her medical concerns might be daunting, but we know that somewhere in our animal-loving community, there is a family who can help Zoey by giving her a caring home to live her remaining time to the fullest.
**Thanks to a generous donor, my adoption fees have been paid!**
