Adoptable Alexandria Pet: Rescue Dog That Survived Hurricanes
Cece is staying in an Alexandria foster home after surviving Hurricanes Maria and Irma in the Caribbean.
ALEXANDRIA, VA—If you're thinking about adopting a furry friend, consider a local rescue group like Alexandria-based Operation Paws for Homes. The group rescues dogs from overcrowded, high-kill shelters in the south, mainly Virginia, North Carolina and South Carolina and finds new homes for them.
One of these dogs is Potcake Cece, who survived both Hurricane Maria and Hurricane Irma in the Turks and Caicos islands. Now the 1-year-old shepherd is being fostered in Alexandria and hopes to find her forever home.
Here's a description of the handsome pup, courtesy of Operation Paws for Homes:

Cece is a long legged @1+ year old,@ 38 pound shepherd mix who loves to hang out with you. She is happy, sweet, loyal and loving! She likes to follow you around, give kisses and go belly up for her favorite belly rubs!
From day one, she slept all night in her crate and has had only a few accidents in the house in the beginning! Cece is happy to eat in her crate or go to her crate on her own to rest. She goes in easily whenever we leave the house and at night to sleep.
She loves to hang out with our dogs and a frequent dog visitor, but she is wary of strange dogs (and may be afraid of large dogs) so we are working on this. So far she gets along great with smaller dogs.
