Alexandria Is Among 2018 Best Places To Live In Virginia

ALEXANDRIA, VA—If you're an Alexandria resident, you have the bragging rights of saying you live in the one of the best places in Virginia.

That's according to HomeSnacks, a website that analyzes the quality of life in places around the U.S. Alexandria claimed the seventh spot in the 2018 Best Places to Live in Virginia ranking, up from ninth place last year.

HomeSnacks analyzed 62 localities that have populations over 5,000 around the Commonwealth. The analysis gave localities scores out of 10 possible points for these factors: median home values, median income, population density, unemployment rate, commute time, crime, education levels, health insurance coverage and poverty rates. These were combined to give an overall score out of 10.

Alexandria's diversity, amenities and jobs helped contribute to a 9 out of 10 score. The only less-than-excellent individual rankings were for affordability (5) and commute (4) (no surprise).

"Alexandria ranks 7th on our list of best places to live in Virginia thanks to its low unemployment and high adjusted median income, states the website. "Additionally, its crime rate ranks in the lowest 10% of all places in Virginia that we examined. People have been flocking to Alexandria over the past years. Goes to show that everyone wants in on this great community."
