Alexandria City Public Schools Make Jan 17 Weather Decision
BREAKING: Alexandria City Public Schools made the decision in light of snowfall and slippery road conditions.

ALEXANDRIA, VA—Alexandria City Public Schools will open two hours late on Wednesday, Jan. 17 due to snowfall and slippery road conditions.
Morning pre-K programs report two hours later and will be dismissed one hour later than usual. Afternoon pre-K reports one hour later than regular opening time and stays for approximately two hours.
Non-administrative licensed staff, paraprofessionals and school security officers report as soon as possible but no later than twenty minutes before school opens. Bus drivers and bus monitors report two hours later. All other staff, including emergency personnel, report at regular time.

Alexandria and the surrounding area are under a winter weather advisory through 9 a.m. Wednesday. The area is receiving around an inch or two of snow, but forecasters say freezing temperatures create hazardous conditions for the morning commute.
Commuters will have limited visibility and are urged to use caution on snow-covered roads. Expect temperatures to remain below freezing throughout the day.

The updated advisory applies to the District of Columbia, Prince William, Manassas, Manassas Park, Fairfax County, Arlington County, Falls Church, Alexandria, Stafford County, Spotsylvania County and Loudoun County.
