Alexandria Hosting Two Veterans Day Ceremonies

The City of Alexandria is hosting two Veterans Day ceremonies on Friday.
The is presenting a program at 11 a.m. co-sponsored by the Alexandria branch of the NAACP entitled “Code of Conduct: I Came, I Saw, I Conquered,” which will highlight the experiences of minority soldiers.
Retired Navy Rear Admiral Osie V. Combs Jr. and Navy Rear Admiral Sinclair M. Harris will be among the officers on a panel that will discuss experiences and issues minority soldiers have faced over time.

The three-hour program, which will also include music and light refreshments, is open to the public. Reservations are requested but not required. To make a reservation, simply call 703-746-4356.
In Del Ray, the Friends of Rocky Versace will host its 10th annual Veterans Day ceremony at 1 p.m. Friday at .

The one-hour ceremony will include the reading of the names of 67 Alexandrians who were killed in Vietnam, recognition of all veterans, reading of Capt. Versace’s Medal of Honor citation, the reading of a tribute written by one of Versace’s fellow prisoners of war and the playing of taps.
