Alexandria Makes Cut On South’s Best Cities List: Southern Living

ALEXANDRIA, VA — Alexandria has claimed a spot in the top 10 of South’s Best Cities 2020 list in Southern Living. A reader vote Alexandria in seventh place among the likes of Charleston, Savannah, Nashville, New Orleans and Austin. Richmond also cracked the top ten as the other Virginia city on the list.

Charleston, South Carolina took the top spot for the fourth year, but readers' choices included a diverse range of cities. The 20 cities on the list cover historic destinations, coastal spots, modern mountainous areas. Southern Living writes that the top cities offer quality food and drink options, retail, cultural attractions, and "fine company."

Aside from the ranking, Southern Living called Alexandria the "ideal weekend getaway" and is slated to feature the city's Scottish Christmas Walk Weekend in a print edition later in 2020.
