Alexandria Man Guilty In Fatal Hotel Shooting

A jury convicted a man of voluntary manslaughter rather than murder in the shooting that killed one and injured two in Alexandria.

ALEXANDRIA, VA—A jury found an Alexandria resident guilty Thursday for the shooting that killed a man and injured two at a city hotel last year.

Demarcus Robertson, 20, was originally charged with murder, but the jury convicted him of voluntary manslaughter (felony) for the death of Desmond Roseboro, 28 of Alexandria on May 13, 2017. He was also convicted of two felony counts of unlawful wounding for shooting and injuring two others.

The jury recommended he serve 20 years in total: 10 years for manslaughter and five years for each count of unlawful wounding. These were the maximum recommended sentences for these convictions.
