ALEXANDRIA, VA — Spring is the perfect time to adopt a four-legged friend to accompany you on walks around Alexandria. Consider starting your search for a pet at the Animal Welfare League of Alexandria, which shelters pets in need and coordinates adoptions.

Patch regularly features pets from the Animal Welfare League of Alexandria. One of the available pets is Kip, a dog who would love to accompany you on walks, jobs or runs. He's also a fan of playing games, including his own self-fetch game. But he'd prefer to have a friend to play fetch with him.

Kip, 6-Year-Old Male Brown and Black German Shepherd Mix
If you're looking for a new exercise buddy, look no further than Kip! Kip hasn't met a game he doesn't like; in fact, he's invented one of his own, called Self Fetch, where he throws a toy for himself and then fetches it. That said, Kip would be thrilled to have a throwing buddy, and he'd even be willing to let you try to do the fetching, if you'd like. Kip is also an absolute pro on walks, and he thinks those skills could expand to jogs, runs or even hikes. At 6 years old, Kip is an energetic fellow, but he understands the importance of resting and recuperating at the end of the day...and sometimes maybe starting the day in bed instead of on the trail. Kip can be recognized by his adorable lopsided ears (one is always pointing up) and his equally goofy smile. He loves being around people so much, it gives him the wiggles, though he'd prefer to be the only Puppy Prince in his new castle, thank you very much. He promises that he's all the lapdog (and more) that you'll ever need! Kip can't wait to meet his new family, so schedule time to meet him by emailing his friends at the AWLA at Adopt@AlexandriaAnimals.org or calling 703.746.4774 (opt. 2).
