Alexandria Pet Of The Week: Spock The 'House Panther'

Spock the cat may not be from Star Trek, but he would make a great "first officer" in your home.

ALEXANDRIA, VA — If you're ready to welcome a new companion into your life, consider starting your search at the Animal Welfare League of Alexandria.

One of the available pets is Spock, who would love to make your home his own personal starship. Well in reality, his only similarity to Spock may be his pointy ears. This kitty is shy at first, but he will love playing all the time once he warms up.

Spock, 16-month-old Male Black Domestic Short-Haired Cat
The Search for Spock is over! You can meet him now at the Animal Welfare League of Alexandria!
Like his namesake, Spock may have adorable pointy ears, but that is one of the few things they have in common. Spock's initial shyness may be mistaken for a calm, logical personality, but once he gets to know you, Spock is a big kitten at heart. He loves playing with toys, especially his wand toy and laser pointer, and he enjoys the late-evening zoomies with his favorite jingly ping-pong ball.
But like the TV Spock, Spock the cat is also very clever. While staying in a foster home, he's learned several tricks, including Sit, Nose-Five and even the tricky Sit Pretty.
Spock is currently back for a stay at the AWLA and he can't wait to meet his adoring fans. Schedule time to meet Spock by emailing Adopt@AlexandriaAnimals.org or calling 703.746.4774 (opt. 2).
