Alexandria Recreational Features To Reopen In Phases
Recreational features and facilities will likely open under the same timeline as the governor's three reopening phases for the region.

ALEXANDRIA, VA — Alexandria's Recreation, Parks & Cultural Activities will open its locations and services to the public in phases. The announcement comes as the governor indicated Northern Virginia will enter phase one of reopening on Friday, May 29.
The three reopening phases will likely align with when Northern Virginia enters the governor's three phases. The services and facilities are based on federal, state and local health guidelines, which affect gathering sizes, facility access, and physical distancing requirements. Some services like pools will initially remain closed due to guidelines. Until phase three, fewer people will be allowed in summer camps, classes, pools, fitness rooms and more. Virginia's requirements for phase one reopening are available online; the governor has not yet announced details for phase two.
In phase one, parks, trails, and paths will be open, but playgrounds, picnic shelters, sports courts, city fields, dog parks and restrooms remain closed. All of these except playgrounds and picnic shelters are expected to open in phase two; the remaining two will open in phase three. The city marina is open to only slip holders and reserved transients in phases one and two.

The timing of RPCA's reopening phases is anticipated to align with the Governor’s “Forward Virginia” blueprint for Northern Virginia, but is subject to change. Operations will follow all health guidelines, which require adjustments to capacity and format. https://t.co/rD3XBOknrA pic.twitter.com/ASzCtj6KcQ
