Emily Sharp, 28, was the top female runner in the 12K with a time of 51:14. "I am running to earn a Distinguished Participation medal this year," she said. "It’s always great to run with the motivation from the Marines and experience a new course."

Runners can earn a Distinguished Participation medal by participating in the year's qualifying MCM event series. This year's qualification will finish with the Marine Corps Marathon in October and Alexandria's own Turkey Trot on Nov. 13.
