Alexandria Schools Cancel After-School Activities Amid Ida Impact

ALEXANDRIA, VA — On Wednesday, Alexandria City Public Schools canceled after-school activities for weather-related reasons. There was no change to classes during the school day.

The canceled after-school and evening activities include adult education classes. The cancellation does not apply to recreational programs at ACPS or activities in city recreation centers or city facilities. Residents can check recreational programs at www.alexandriava.gov/Recreation.

the National Weather Service expects the remnants of Ida to bring heavy rainfall and a chance of flooding Wednesday. The region already encountered thunderstorms overnight, which caused flooding and outages in some areas of Northern Virginia. The region is under a flash flood watch through Thursday morning. A tornado watch is in effect for the region until 7 p.m. Wednesday.
