American Flag For McCain And Labor Day: Photo Of The Day

On the day DC pays respects to the late Sen. John McCain, a Del Ray resident shared a special photo with an American flag.

Ernest Lilley captured the moment a monarch butterfly landed on the flag. He had put out the flag on his porch to honor McCain and celebrate Labor Day weekend.

"Our flag does not usually welcome monarchs, but for this one we're happy to make an exception," he wrote.

McCain will lie in state at the U.S. Capitol Friday. The public is invited to pay their respects from 1 p.m.-8 p.m.
