Arrest Follows Alexandria Carjackings: Police

Alexandria Police caught the suspect after a second carjacking Tuesday.

ALEXANDRIA, VA—Alexandria Police made an arrest after carjackings in two locations Tuesday.

The first incident happened in the 2500 block of North Van Dorn Street, according to a police tweet after 4 p.m. Tuesday. The suspect stole the car keys from the victim.

After the second carjacking in the 4200 block of Kenmore Avenue, police recovered the vehicle and arrested the suspect. Police tweeted that the suspect was taken into custody near the Bradlee Shopping Center.

Robert Ray, II, 61, of Alexandria faces two counts of carjacking, DUI, and hit and run (destruction of property). Police spokesperson Crystal Nosal said in email the two counts of carjacking relate to the Van Dorn Street and Kenmore Avenue incidents.
