The Best Beer Joints In Del Ray, According To Yelp

ALEXANDRIA, VA -- When you enter a bar, it'd be nice if it was a place that had not only good beer, but good cheer. You know, a place "where everybody knows your name." While the "Cheers" bar is made for TV, in reality, Del Ray has some spots that come awfully close.

Whether you like ale, lager, a porter, or some other type of beer, we can all agree atmosphere, vibe and other intangibles contribute to the values of a nice beer spot. In honor of National Beer Day, here are some Del Ray spots where you can indulge in some good beer and cheer:

Front Porch (Evening Star Cafe): 2006 Mt Vernon Ave, Alexandria, VA 22301. The Front Porch is a local favorite for beer and other drinks. The spot was nominated for Favorite Gathering Place of the Year in a local food and drink competition. One Yelper says, "Absolutely a place to bring loud friends, outdoorsy dates, or your journal/book. The Front Porch has their draft beers listed on the board, a full bar in the back, and a small menu of simple to complex appetizers to keep you sitting on the front porch."

Majestic Lounge (Evening Star Cafe): 2000 Mt Vernon Ave, Alexandria, VA 22301. Majestic Lounge is another spot to check out when Front Porch is closed for the season. The bar features a large beer list and the upstairs lounge has shuffleboard and a pool table. One Yelper says, "The best of both worlds, downstairs feels divey and upstairs is a lounge. They always have a great beer selection. IPA selection is great and they often have multiple sours on the menu."

Lena's Wood-Fired Pizza & Tap: 401 E Braddock Rd, Alexandria, VA 22301. Located just off the Braddock Road Metro, Lena's offers a wide variety of craft beers, many hailing from the area. One Yelper says, "The beer selection is solid, with a surprisingly diverse selection on tap. I'm automatically a fan of any place with Bell's Two Hearted on draft. Their custom beer jars are a nice touch."

FireFlies Restaurant: 1501 Mt Vernon Ave, Alexandria, VA 22301 This diner-esque spot is known for weekend brunch with live music, but at night has a substantial list of brews.
