Braddock Road Metro Manager Refused to Allow Child to Use Restroom

A request to use the restroom escalated into a shouting match between the child's father and the metro manager, who is now on paid leave.

An argument that was videotaped and uploaded to YouTube has landed the manager of the Braddock Road Metro station in hot water.

Metro tells The Washington Post that the incident — a father asking the station manager if his 4-year-old daughter could use the restroom — took place May 30. On June 17, a video, “WMATA Station Manger Assaults Man and His 4 y/o Daughter,” was uploaded to YouTube, with the message: “This is the station manager at the Braddock Road metro station assaulting me and and my daughter today.”

Metro Transit Police met with the customer and presented the video to a Virginia magistrate, who declined to prosecute, a Metro statement says.

“However, we find the station manager’s interaction with the customer unacceptable and are taking appropriate internal administrative action,” Metro said in the statement. “Through MTPD, we had been in contact with the customer multiple times since the incident; and we also reached out yesterday to provide an update and again apologize.”

As of today, the video on YouTube has been viewed nearly 13,000 times. A new message, posted on the YouTube page Tuesday, says: “UPDATE: 6 WEEKS LATER, WMATA HAS CONTACTED ME. THANK YOU FOR YOUR HELP WORLD OF TWITTER! (7/14/15)“

Metro says passengers can request access to a bathroom from the station manager. In this case, Metro says the station manager advised the customer the restroom was unavailable because it was being cleaned, the Post and WUSA-9 reported.
