ALEXANDRIA, VA—Bubble tea shops certainly aren't lacking in Northern Virginia, but the options aren't as prevalent around Alexandria beyond Uptowner Cafe. That could change, as a special use permit application for a bubble tea shop called Spill the Tea has been submitted.

The shop would open at 515A East Braddock Road across from the Braddock Road Metro. According to the application, it would serve bubble tea, coffee, smoothies, and cold foods such as salads and fresh rolls. Carryout and delivery service would be offered.

Bubble tea is a Taiwanese drink typically made with milk tea and tapioca pearls. The drink can come in different flavors with other toppings.
