Update: GW Middle School To Reopen After Burst Water Pipe
Update: Alexandria's George Washington Middle School closed Monday due to a burst water pipe but will reopen for the last days of school.

(Updated 4:36 p.m. Monday) ALEXANDRIA, VA — George Washington Middle School closed Monday due to a burst water pipe. The school will reopen Tuesday and Wednesday with early dismissals. Alexandria City Public Schools will end classes for the year on Thursday, June 22.
The water flooded the cafeteria and band room, and the school shut the water off Monday. The cafeteria remains closed, so breakfast and lunches will be delivered to classrooms.
On Monday, buses did not pick students up at bus stops. Students that were picked up were returned to the bus stops.The school says students' assignments and Chromebooks should be turned in on Wednesday and Thursday.

The school's Orchestra Tango Concert with the Tucker dance group will be happening as planned Monday, June 19 at 7 p.m. in the auditorium. The Middle School Promotion Ceremony will take place as scheduled Tuesday, June 20, at T.C. Williams High School.
