City of Alexandria Announces Community Meeting on Zika and Mosquito Control

The public is encouraged to attend the meeting regarding mosquito control on July 20 at Beatley Central Library in Alexandria.

Are you concerned about Zika, West Nile Virus or other mosquito-borne diseases? Learn about what the City of Alexandria is doing and what you can do to “Fight the Bite!” Join the Alexandria Health Department on the third Wednesday of each month through October at various locations throughout Alexandria.

Meeting attendees will learn more about mosquitoes, the City’s Vector Borne Illness Program, and what steps residents can take to protect themselves and their families. The next meeting is Wednesday, July 20, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m., at Beatley Central Library (5005 Duke St.).

You can help minimize mosquito breeding by eliminating standing water around your home or business, and protect yourself from insect bites by covering up or applying repellant. More information and tips can be found here.
