City To Begin Del Ray, Arlandria Plan Updating Process

ALEXANDRIA, VA — The City of Alexandria is kicking off a process to update the plans for the Del Ray and Arlandria neighborhoods. The updates to the plans will address current and future needs of the communities.

The key parts of the long-term visions for Del Ray and Arlandria are the Mount Vernon Avenue Business Area Plan and Arlandria Neighborhood Action Plan, approved in 2005 and 2003, respectively. These plans provide framework to guide development, parking and multi-modal transportation, and other aspects for a long-term vision.

Updated plans could account for the upcoming Amazon headquarters in Crystal City,Virginia Tech Innovation Campus in Potomac Yard, and the Potomac Yard Metro Station.

Before the planning process gets underway in 2020, the first phase is a community feedback period. Residents and groups in and around Mount Vernon Avenue can attend meetings or fill out a survey.

The next two meetings are:

• Thursday, Nov. 21, 6 p.m.-7:30 p.m.
• Cora Kelly Elementary School Cafeteria, 3600 Commonwealth Avenue
• Meeting in Spanish with English translation

• Community Conversation in Del Ray
• Thursday, Dec, 12, 6:30 p.m.-8 p.m.
• Mount Vernon Community School Cafeteria, 2601 Commonwealth Ave.
• Meeting in English with Spanish Translation
