While City of Alexandria crews spent much of Sunday into streets and public rights of way because of , the debris on private property remains the responsibility of the property owner. The City will collect any storm debris during regular refuse collections. Policies regarding the bundling of brush and yard waste "will be relaxed" until Sept. 9, according to a release sent Sunday. Residents are asked to place items for curbside pickup on their regularly scheduled trash collection days. The city reminds not to block fire hydrants with debris. City crews will also not pick up sandbags or waste resulting from contactors or construction work. The removal of this waste is the responsibility of the property owner.
