The Dairy Godmother Reopens in Del Ray: Report
The popular frozen custard shop has the same owner, but she's still looking for a buyer.

ALEXANDRIA, VA — A Del Ray institution that was thought to have closed its doors forever in January has reopened, according to a media report.
The Dairy Godmother, the frozen custard shop on Mount Vernon Avenue, is back in business following a winter hiatus, the Washington Business Journal reported Monday.
The shop's owner, Liz Davis, had announced in January that she intended to sell The Dairy Godmother to a new owner. Opening about 17 years ago as The Del Ray Dreamery, Davis has offered Wisconsin-style frozen custard throughout the years along with a bevy of other tasty treats. President Obama visited the shop with his daughters in 2009.

In January, Davis said in a post on the shop's Facebook page that she would find a new owner before the shop reopened this month. But she told the Business Journal that she doesn't yet have a deal to sell the business.
During the hiatus, the store at 2310 Mount Vernon Ave. was taken over by Salt|Bagel, a pop-up shop run by Bagel Uprising and No. 1 Sons that sold homemade pickles and bagels.
